Comparatively stable genetic information that can reveal inherited or acquired variants.
Blood-based genomic screening
A dynamic view of biology.
Read through whole blood.
BGS analyzes whole-blood gene-expression patterns to provide screening and risk information for the cancers, inflammatory bowel diseases, osteoarthritis and cardiovascular and neurological risks described in BGLC's 2025 Form 10-K.
BGS is a screening and risk-information service, not a diagnosis. It does not replace conventional diagnostic evaluation or advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Its sensitivity and specificity have not been established through clinical trials meeting applicable U.S. or EU regulatory standards. See BGLC's 2025 Form 10-K (opens in a new tab). BGS results require professional clinical evaluation and appropriate confirmatory testing.
Statements on this page about plans, expectations and future events are forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, and actual results may differ materially. See the forward-looking statements notice and the risk factors in BGLC's SEC filings.
A BioNexus technology
RNA-based
genomic screening.
Operated through MRNA Scientific, BGS applies a defined whole-blood RNA workflow and proprietary panel-specific scoring to produce screening information.
The scientific premise
Blood can reflect activity
across the body.
DNA carries biological instructions. RNA is produced as cells use those instructions, creating a changing record of gene activity known as the transcriptome.
BGS is grounded in peripheral-blood transcriptomics: blood-expression patterns may reflect biological responses occurring elsewhere in the body. Those patterns require interpretation alongside medical history, clinical evaluation and other appropriate tests.
A different molecular lens
Blueprint and expression.
DNA and RNA answer related but different questions. BGS focuses on patterns of gene activity measured from whole blood.
Patterns of gene activity that can change with cell state, environment, health and disease.
How BGS works
From one blood sample to a screening report.
BGS follows a defined whole-blood RNA workflow combining sample handling, RNA measurement, data quality review and proprietary panel-specific scoring.
- 01Blood collection and stabilization
Whole blood is collected in a tube designed to preserve its RNA expression profile.
- 02RNA extraction and quality control
Total RNA is isolated, purified and checked before downstream processing.
- 03Gene-expression measurement
GeneChip microarray technology measures expression across the transcriptome.
- 04Data processing and quality review
Laboratory output is organized into an expression matrix and reviewed before scoring.
- 05Panel-specific scoring
Proprietary panel models combine selected gene-expression signals to produce a screening score for each condition in scope. The score is not a calibrated probability of disease.
- 06Screening report and follow-up
A report presents screening information for discussion with a qualified healthcare professional.
Current scope, as filed
Cancer and chronic-disease risk.
One screening framework.
BGLC's 2025 Form 10-K (opens in a new tab) describes BGS as currently screening for eight types of cancer, two inflammatory bowel diseases, osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular and neurological risks. This scope does not establish clinical performance for any test.
Nasopharyngeal, lung, liver, stomach, breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancers.
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
Screening for expression patterns associated with osteoarthritis.
Including heart attack, stroke and mental disorders, added to the scope in 2023 and 2024.
Technology and know-how
A scientific lineage developed over decades.
BGS traces its scientific lineage to peripheral-blood transcriptomics research led by BGLC's late co-founder, Dr. Choong-Chin Liew, including work on the concept that blood gene expression can reflect disease-associated activity elsewhere in the body.
MRNA Scientific operates BGS using proprietary technology, panel algorithms and software, together with trade secrets, assigned know-how and defined laboratory methods. This description does not imply ownership of every antecedent publication, biomarker or third-party right.

Research context
Published work informs the approach.
Chao, Cheng and Liew (2015) (opens in a new tab) describes a related multi-disease blood-expression research method. It provides scientific context but does not by itself establish the performance of the complete current BGS service or each panel in the current configuration.
Further analytical and clinical work is needed to support broader performance, clinical-utility and market claims.
Development priorities
Strengthening the evidence and operating framework.
BioNexus intends to document the product configuration, modernize software controls and conduct further analytical and clinical work. These are development objectives, not statements that regulatory or performance milestones have been achieved.
- 01Configuration control
Maintain clear intended uses, panel configurations and version records.
- 02Software traceability
Advance processing and reporting with stronger audit trails.
- 03Analytical quality
Study consistency across sample, laboratory and data-processing steps.
- 04Clinical evidence
Evaluate performance and utility through appropriately designed research.
- 05Responsible access
Build the quality and healthcare pathways required for any future expansion.
